Different Exercises You Can Do on a Balance Board

You can use a balance board to add complexity to a variety of exercises. Below you’ll find a few examples of what you can try with yours.

  • Push-ups

With a balance board, you can add a whole new level of challenge to your push-ups. The wobbling forces you to use your muscles to stabilize yourself well beyond what you’d do with a normal exercise.

Simply start in a plank position and grip the sides of the board. Lower your chest down to the board while keeping your core engaged. If wrist pain makes floor exercises painful for you, try a wrist brace for working out.

  • Planks

Start with your elbows resting on the balance board in plank position, and ensure your shoulders are aligned with your elbows. Tilt side to side while holding this position to engage your other muscles. You can do three sets and hold each one for 30 seconds.

  • Standing Balance

The most common use of a balance board is to improve your balance. Stand straight on the board with your feet on both sides, bend your knees slightly, and try to maintain your balance for as long as you can. If your knees are giving you trouble, a knee brace might help.

Simple Low Intensity Workouts

Low intensity work-outs are still effective for staying active and building muscle. Regardless of your age, there is definitely a workout you can do safely. Here’s a list of simple, inexpensive exercises you can do at home.

If you’re over 50, it’s even more crucial that you train your muscles. Here’s a guide to help you build muscle after 50.
