  • Calf Raises

Position your feet hip-width apart. Slowly raise your heels until you’re on your tiptoes, and then slowly lower them back down to the ground for 20 reps. Try these calf raises with your toes pointed outward at a 45 degree angle, or with your toes turned inwards until they’re almost touching.

  • Plantar Flexion with Resistance Band

To begin, sit on the floor with your right leg extended, and wrap a resistance band around your foot, holding the ends of the band in your hand. Your toes should be flexed. For each rep, slowly press and point your foot forward, keeping resistance on the band, then return to the starting position. Do 20 reps of these on each leg.

  • Dorsi Flexion with Resistance Band

For this exercise, you’ll need to attach your resistance band to a sturdy object (a heavy table leg will work well), and loop the band over your toes. Start with your foot angled so that your toes are pointing forward, and slowly pull your foot towards your knee. Return to the starting position, and repeat 20 times for each leg.

Wear the Right Shoes

It’s important to choose shoes with the right fit. Your heel should fit inside the shoe without slipping and the shoe should have a wide toe box to provide room for your toes to move around freely. Avoid shoes with a tall heel.
